Insights into the Baby Boomer audience, a group you shouldn't underestimate!
Two weeks ago we shared 8 handy tips on how to engage Gen Z especially since the Gen Z audience are the end users for our Care Leavers app.
But our digital solutions are not just used by Gen Z, so we make sure that we understand all demographics.
Our Virtual Community Hub is mostly used by people in the Baby Boomers age group and when it comes to understanding this audience, the main takeaway is don’t underestimate them.
· Boomers feel younger than their age – for them, 60 is definitely the new 40.
· And they’re more active! Not only do they exercise more, but they spend an average of four hours more outdoors beyond work hours as opposed to their young adult and millennial counterparts.
· They’re connected – over 90% of 55-64 year olds own a smartphone.
· They’re online more than you think – they spend over 5 hours a day on their phones.
· Boomers are adventurous – they travel more and explore more exotic locations than their younger counterparts.
· When it comes to websites and social media, Baby Boomers trust websites more than social media – the complete opposite to Gen Z.
· And face-to-face interactions win out. This is an audience who prefers to shop in-store, and who places particular value on relationships and meeting up in person. In this way they know that verbal communication is king!
· Boomers embrace change with a positive outlook, and they approach problems differently, all as a result of their experience.
With such a positive outlook, with the value they place on relationships and with such active lifestyles, maybe we can all learn a thing or two from the Boomers.
