Demonstrating the importance of protecting our customers sensitive data.
Earlier this year saw the technical team at focusgov become Cyber Essentials certified!
Cyber Essentials is a security standard that organisations can be assessed and certified against and helps identify the security controls that are in place to help protect data and reduce the risks from internet-based threats. Backed by central government, Cyber Essentials is also being used by local authorities as an important part of procurement of new IT solutions that might involve handling sensitive and personal information.

The assessment focused on our strategy within several key areas of our IT systems and processes including Patch Management, Access Control, Secure Configuration, Boundary Firewalls and Internet Gateways.
Neil Smith, Technical Director at focusgov says:
“We host sensitive data on behalf of our customers and the protection of that data is incredibly important. The Cyber Essentials programme and assessment provided a chance for us to review our systems and the certification gained shows how seriously we take cyber security and the protection of our own, and our customers, data."
